What is a Basin Bottle Trap

A bottle trap is an essential part of your basin plumbing.  It is attached to the waste plug under the sink and helpsto keep your bathroom hygienic and safe from bacteria. Bottle traps block potentially harmful gases from rising from the drainage systems below and entering your bathroom via your waste.   A bottle trap also has a removable filter which has been known to help capture any items which shouldn’t have gone down the drain !

What's in the Box ?

There should be three individaul items in the box on arrival

  1. The Main Body of the Bottle Trap
  2. The Outet Pipe
  3. The Outlet Pips Wall Cover

Fitting the Waste to the Bottle Trap

The ‘top hat’ washer sits inside the threaded top flange.  This will make a good seal when the waste plug is screwed to the bottle trap.

Fitting the Waste Pipe to the Mains Drains

There is a tapered seal which goes, tapered end first, into the body of the bottle trap.   The outlet pipe is then inserted into the bottletrap.  The waste outlet pipe will then be horizontal from the bottle trap.  This pipe can be shortened if required.

The pipe is then connected to the mains drain system,  the pipe cover above is provided to cover up any connection from view. There is no fixing method for this as it should sit flush to the wall and may not be needed.  However, silcome sealant could be used should you wish to be secured.

When installing the basin and its accessories, please take extra care to avoid damaging the finish or fitting.  To maintain the appearance, please ensure they are cleaned regularly using a clean soft damp cloth only.  Avoid abrasive cleaners or detergents as they may cause surgac deteriortation.
